This article is not meant to be political and surely is not meant to further divide a nation that needs healing and not further division. There seems to be two sides to every argument, and there is nothing inherently wrong with discussing those side as long as we do so with a modicum of civil discourse. What each and every person needs to realize is that regardless of who won the election, the majority of people on both sides had to get up and go to work the next morning. Politics sometimes changes the course of many things in our lives, however, the one thing it does not change is our need to provide for our families. For all of us, life will go on and hopefully with God’s assistance it will improve for us and our children. I, along with my associates, will continue to do what we do best, Say goodbye to old friends as they move away to new adventures and to welcome our new neighbors with open arms. That’s what Realtors do. We continue to believe that there is no better place to own a home and no better place to live, be it year around or just when the summer heat and humidity drive our friends up to cooler climes.
Now, with that said, just a quick look at The High Country real estate market and what we can expect.
Since the collapse of the housing market in 2008 a lot has transpired. Some people have bought and sold in that period and made money, others have not. Some have hung on to their pre 2008 purchases in hopes that one day the market would return to its pre-bust frenetic pace and others have taken their lumps and moved on, wanting nothing more than to put those purchases behind them. However, prices are beginning to inch back up and inventory is beginning to dwindle at certain price points, and of course 30 year mortgages are at an all-time low, but is the market back……kinda. Unfortunately, it still acts like a temperamental child wanting to be cajoled in to behaving properly. Statistically the market is getting better.
What is back, however, is the excitement, the subtle hint of growing optimism and a renewed faith in where we are headed as an economy and as a country. People are once again becoming excited about having their place in the high country. Excited about ownership and to once again have something to look forward to. Like the old saying goes, “They’re sick and tired of being sick and tired”.
